stick (stuck, stuck): to (cause to) become fixed and unable to move or progress. Sp. adherir. The car stuck in the mud.  The cupboard door has stuck. I’ll help you with your arithmetic if you’re stuck.

switch off  to stop thinking about something or paying attention to something. E.g. When I hear the word ‘football’ I switch off (= because I am not interested in it). The only time he really switches off (= stops thinking about work, etc.) is when we're on vacation.

work out: to find the answer to something. Solve. E.g. to work out a problem. Work out what, where, etc… Can you work out what these squiggles mean? I couldn't work out where the music was coming from.

go off: to leave a place, especially in order to do something. E.g. She went off to get a drink.
